A new opus of the adventures of the ogre Shrek is set to be released by Dreamworks in May 2010. The animated movie, titled Shrek Forever After aka Shrek 4, will be directed by Mike Mitchell.
Here below a first official teaser poster of Shrek 4 that was spotted at the Licensing Show in Las Vegas:

Plot:
"Shrek (Mike Myers) has become a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumplestiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona (Cameron Diaz) have never met. Now, it's up to Shrek to undo all of Rumpelstiltskin's mischief in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love and family."
I can't say that I'm eagerly awaiting Dreamworks' next instalment for the Shrek series. But the plot of Shrek 4 sounds like a good story, and I think there will be much more adventure than in the previous movie.
I hope they will somewhat tame the slapstick humor: it was funny in the first movie but less fart jokes and more plot please!
If you're a hard core fan of Shrek 4, be patient: the movie Shrek 4 is not so Far Far Away!
